Brochure 2025/2026

Colour and fun are the order of the day in this, the first brochure of our second quarter century.

With turmoil in some quarters of the jewellery world as synthetic diamonds impact the market, many buyers are turning away from retail brands and their recognisable designs in favour of the best that antique and vintage jewellery has to offer. Its appeal is no surprise; quality, authenticity and individuality are the order of the day. Whatever one may hear about the decline in prices for modern stones, produce a beautiful glassy 19th century cushion-cut diamond in 47th Street and it’ll be gone before you can say ‘tariffs’. It is as true for jewellery as it has always been for anything else: buy something timeless, buy something beautiful, buy something impeccably crafted and you can’t go far wrong.

On that note, highlights from this year’s offering include some fabulous coloured stones: a lovely old cushion-shaped sapphire from the fabled Kashmir mines on p.4, some cracking emerald rings on pp. 15, 21 & 56, and an abundance of rubies on p. 58 & 59. If you are in search of diamonds to weather market shocks, then the old-cut three stone ring on p. 44 and the blissful old European-cut on p.13 offer ample explanation as to why antique stones are currently so prized. We have tiaras galore on pp. 28, 29 & overleaf, we have diamond necklaces to make a Duchess swoon on pp. 38 & 46, we have belting bangles and bracelets on pp. 32 & 55, and on p. 47 for anyone one looking for a mildly offensive Christmas present, we have an impressive silver cock. Schoolboy humour is alive and kicking in Pall Mall.

Looking back through introductions to past editions of this publication, it is striking how resilient the market for the best antique jewellery has been. The spectre of some form of political or financial turmoil always seems to be looming (plus ça change) and yet, as mentioned here nearly ten years ago, jewellery is as champagne was to Churchill; a pleasure in good times and a solace in bad. Jewels bring joy so, with a view to offering some jollity and cheer, here is our grooviest and brightest brochure to date, containing a sackful of magnificent pieces, our first explicit centrefold, diamonds and wonderful gemstones galore, and all delivered with our very best wishes.
