RARE GEORGIAN SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND HALF-HOOP RING

Alternately set with three cushion-shaped sapphires and two French-cut diamonds, mounted in all gold,

inscribed 'Richard Sandys Esq of St. John's New Brunswick to The Lord Marcus Hill Nov. 1835', Lord Marcus Hill, later 3rd Baron Sandys, of Ombersley Court in Worcestershire was a prominent Whig politician and Treasurer of the Household between 1847 and 1852.
