Happy New Year! We would like to thank everyone for the overwhelmingly positive response to our latest brochure, which you can see here, and which rounds off an exciting 2017 for us. It has been a year of changes, the most significant of which has been the departure of Imogen Orr who has taken off to Florence to pursue her passion for painting. We will miss her enormously, but she has a great talent to nurture and we wish her all the very best with what will doubtless be a glittering artistic career. Taking her place, we welcome the lovely Hetty Stephen who will be in command of our social media and overseeing all repairs and workshop queries with great charm and efficiency.

Over the course of the year, we have had a number of successes in finding new homes for pieces at all levels, including a highly important Kashmir sapphire. 2018 promises to be an interesting year for the jewellery market, but prices for coloured stones and signed jewels remain particularly strong so if you have a piece you are unsure about, we would be delighted to give you a steer. We are always happy to take a look and offer our advice without the slightest obligation. As with the vendor of the sapphire (whose original estimate of value lay at a little less than a fifteenth of what we were finally able to return for it!) you may be pleasantly surprised.

We will be taking off to Miami in February for the great annual gathering of the world’s jewellery dealers. Hopefully we will be returning with one or two exciting new prizes. Keep an eye on our Instagram for updates and maybe one or two amusing shots of out-of-place Englishmen abroad!

We very much look forward to seeing some of you in Pall Mall over the coming year but, in the meantime, you can always get in touch with us here.

Humphrey Butler Ltd is excited to announce we will be sponsoring the renowned Stately Car Boot Sale at Sennowe Park, which takes place in just one month today in aid of the Norfolk Churches Trust.

Bargain hunters will be able to get their hands on a treasure chest of rare antiques and historical artefacts as the county’s grand houses once again clear out their attics for the return of the Stately Car Boot Sale held at Sennowe Park next month. Fine antiques and forgotten bygones will be on offer from around 150 stately sellers which have included Holkham Hall and Houghton Hall in previous years.

As well as buying items, visitors will be able to have their own pieces, and those they have just bought valued by auctioneers Cheffins. A silent auction will also take place throughout the day with top prizes including a drawing by Antony Gormley, a dinner in a stately home hosted by the owners, and a behind-the-scenes tour of Sandringham to name but a few. Bidding will start online well before the event.

Come and find us and our jewels in the VIP Tent, located on the Terrace at Sennowe, where drinks and canapes will be served.
